Tour Program Manager
Hounds Travel·Remote (US-based preferred), with periodic travel required·Reports to Founder
About the Role
Hounds Travel designs luxury, dog-friendly travel experiences for owners who want to bring their dogs everywhere they go. The Tour Program Manager owns the full lifecycle of our tour products — from concept and itinerary design through vendor relationships, pricing, compliance, and marketing — ensuring every tour delivers a polished, well-organized experience for both the human traveler and their dog.
Key Responsibilities
Tour Design & Development
- Design and build new tour itineraries (e.g., regional getaways, European tour circuits, alpine/countryside experiences) that balance a luxury human travel experience with genuine dog accessibility and comfort
- Scout and evaluate destinations, accommodations, and activities for pet-friendliness, safety, and brand fit
- Continuously refine existing tours based on guest feedback and performance data
Vendor & Supplier Relations
- Identify, vet, and negotiate agreements with pet-friendly hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, ground handlers, and activity/experience partners
- Build long-term partnerships that support repeatable, reliable tour delivery
- Manage vendor contracts, service standards, and ongoing relationship health
Pricing & Margin Management
- Build cost models and pricing structures for each tour (per-person and per-dog tiers where applicable)
- Set and manage margins across tour packages, add-ons, and seasonal pricing
- Monitor profitability and adjust pricing strategy as needed
Compliance
- Ensure every tour meets applicable pet travel compliance requirements (health documentation, cross-border regulations, breed- or region-specific restrictions, transport rules)
- Coordinate with internal compliance resources to keep itineraries current as regulations change
- Maintain documentation and guest-facing compliance guidance for each tour
Marketing Content
- Develop tour-specific marketing content: itinerary write-ups, web copy, brochures, and promotional materials
- Coordinate photography/content needs to support sales and waitlist campaigns
- Partner with marketing on launch timing and positioning for new tours
Operations & Cross-Functional Work
- Coordinate day-to-day logistics and prepare contingency plans for pet-related issues on tour
- Collect and act on guest feedback post-tour
- Work with sales and marketing to support tour launches and waitlist conversion
Qualifications
- Experience in tour operations, travel product development, or luxury travel design
- Strong vendor sourcing and negotiation skills
- Familiarity with international pet travel regulations (or strong willingness to learn and partner with compliance resources)
- Comfortable writing or directing marketing copy and content
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning a product end-to-end
- Genuine enthusiasm for dogs and pet travel
Nice to Have
- GDS or travel booking systems experience
- Existing network of luxury hospitality or pet-friendly venue contacts
- Experience in a small business/startup environment wearing multiple hats
